A couple of years ago I introduced you to one of my favourite dresses…EVER.
The gorgeous blue and white checked Honey Bee dress was purchased from Unique Vintage in America and as soon as it arrived, I couldn’t wait to wear it.
Of course, I don’t do things by halves so I added a little blue cardigan, honey bee earrings and a yellow handbag. I loved the look and thought that was enough.
Until I saw the most amazing item on the Snag website.
For those who don’t know, Snag started out as a relatively small tights/stocking company based in Scotland. Over the past year or so, they have expanded quite considerably and have taken things to a whole new level, branching out into swimwear, skirts, anti-chafe shorts and more.
Towards the back end of 2020 they announced a collaboration with the amazing Jamie Campbell, real life inspiration behind the smash hit musical and film, ‘Everybody’s talking about Jamie’.
Of course, then COVID hit the world and changed the way we literally lived.
So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see a post on the Snag website around September of 2021 showing off the brand new collaboration.
And there they were….
The tights that dreams are made of, The Bees Knee’s.
A wonderfully wacky yet perfect pair of yellow honeycomb pattern tights with honey bees on each leg.
I immediately thought of my perfect blue and white dress with my beloved bees. It would be a perfect match, wouldn’t it?
Knowing that the collection was a limited edition and probably wouldn’t be around for too long, I put in an order for two pairs. There was a warning on the website that the items were pre-order and wouldn’t be shipped until towards the end of 2021.
Well, I wasn’t in a rush for them so I went ahead and put in the order along with a couple of other special things which I will talk about in another post.
And that was that, for around 3 months…
Then just around the festive period I got a notification of an expected delivery from Snag. Well, it could only be one thing! My Bees Knee’s.
And I have to admit, I was not disappointed.
The most beautiful shade of pale yellow with brown lines on the honeycomb, I was thrilled to see the honeybees on each knee. They were so cute and also so unusual.
Unlike most patterned tights, they seem like the material is printed with the design, rather than woven into it. This gives a very crisp design.
Being 5 foot 1 and a size 24, the charts recommend that I wear a Short F. Having bought quite a few pairs now in that size and never having a problem, that is the same as what I went with this time.
For those of you who aren’t au fait with Snag, they have a measuring system that takes in height, dress size and curviness. All you need to do is look at your height, dress size and whether you are Curvilicious (prominent bum and/or tum) or Athletic (small or flat bum and/or tum)
This will then give you a simple letter to remember. Hence my Short F.
And they were absolutely spot on!
Now, some people might thing that the honeycomb tights are just a step too far when adding them to honeybee dress and I have to admit, they might even have a point.
However, my response to that is to add a fantastic honeycomb and bee necklace that one of my girls bought me for Christmas 2020 and have been waiting for better weather in order to wear.
Well, with the tights and that little cardigan, there is no need to wait to spring. Instead, I intend to bring Spring along with me and hopefully spread a little sunshine along the way.
Till next time,
SPSG xxx
