Like many of you, I have been seeing/bombarded by advertising for a make-up company online advertising ‘THE’ best ever true match coverage by taking a simple quiz.
Lovely Packaging
Il Makiage is all over Instagram with people raving about the brand and apparently it is the highest rated foundation out there.
Really?
The Info…
Well I have to admit to being slightly intrigued and as someone who has tried all the brands, been to the counters and suckered into buying the ideal match (which never is when you get home) I thought it might be worth giving it a go.
Firstly though, I did a little research into whether it was any good and even magazine like Cosmopolitan were giving it a big thumbs up.
Goodies!
There were, of course bad reviews but not nearly anywhere near the number of positive reviews so I decided to throw caution to the wind and take the quiz.
Taking only 2 or 3 minutes it was based on a number of questions including what metal looks better on you (silver or gold) and whether the veins on your wrist are more blue or green.
Foundation and Eyeliner
I answered truthfully and was given my result as shade 20 in their foundation “Woke Up Like This”
Priced at £36.00 I thought it comparable when looking at some of the brands I have used such as Chanel (£40 to £50) Charlotte Tilbury (£35) and Elizabeth Arden (£33)
Fantastic Packaging
Putting a bottle into my basket, the internet then started throwing all kinds of goodies at me such as free delivery.
Marvellous.
The Actual Products
The final steps before ordering got even better when I was informed that I was going to be sent a surprise free gift.
Even better, I thought (depending on what the gift was) and pressed the confirm button.
Not so sure……
Four days passed and I was thrilled to hear a knock at the door advertising the arrival of the Postman. He handed over a well packaged box and on opening it I was excited to see that it was my foundation.
Of course I wanted to try it out as soon as possible, but I also wanted to see what the free gift was!
Actually…..
I have to admit to being quite surprised by the full size ‘Inkliner’ eyeliner which retails at £21.00 on the site.
Two items to test drive and I wasted no time in doing so.
That’s a DAMN good match!
The brand gives a 60 day no questions asked return/refund policy. This means if you don’t like it, it doesn’t match, it doesn’t give the coverage you require or you have plainly and simply changed your mind, send it back!
Of course, I needed to give the products a try and make my own opinion on the brand.
Pretty Bloody Impressed!
I started off adding serum to my face, then a primer base. Getting the foundation from its nifty little packaging, I applied to my face using a beauty blender.
The coverage was absolutely perfect with my complexion and gave a fantastic amount of cover whilst not feeling heavy or cloying.
Loving This Look
The liquid is easy to transfer from the sponge onto the skin and you can build up the level of cover by allowing the foundation to dry slightly before adding more to achieve the required look.
The foundation is slightly matte and I felt only needed the one layer of application. I finished off by using a rose blusher, golden highlight and a very light dusting of translucent powder.
Styling It
I have to admit to being totally smitten with the look especially when I added the black ‘Inkliner’ to the lids of my eyes.
The perfect felt tip style eyeliner is of the darkest, inky black and has long lasting staying power. Up to 14hrs wearing is what is advertised which I have to admit seemed a little unlikely given that I have tried virtually every liquid eyeliner out there.
Perfect for EVERY Occasion
Again, I have no issue in admitting to being wrong. The eyeliner was velvety smooth and literally stayed on my face the whole day and most of the evening.
It was exceptionally easy to apply and I loved the matte black finish.
London Bound and Looking Good
There is a second eyeliner on the website; Black Card Eyeliner which is a waterproof true black pigmented eyeliner which offers the same amount of long lasting coverage.
Going forward I would love to try that out in comparison against the Inkliner. I do believe that these will become my absolute ‘go-to’ eyeliners as I know they won’t end up roaming half way across my face!
