Regular readers will be aware of recent reviews I have written about Doodlebug Bags.
I was introduced to the lovely Lisa by Seamstress extraordinaire, Karen Harvey. She was in the process of making me a stunning Pake Muu and suggested that Lisa may be able to create a matching bag using some of the unused material.
Making contact with Lisa I mentioned what I would like and she blew it out of the park.
My teal colour crocheted bag and matching snood got its first outing in July at the PrimaDonna festival in Suffolk.
It was absolutely beautiful and I got a lot of pleasure using them both.
My second purchase was a marvellous mustard and brown circular bag and matching turban. It was a colour combination that I wouldn’t have normally chosen but wanted to wear it with a wonderful mustard dress and jacket I already own.
Next I ordered a red snood which got so much wear over the Festive period. It was brilliant in that it has a wide strap that goes onto the top of the head which is both unusual yet effective.
The last item I ordered prior to this one was a bright pink half moon bag with a delicate snood. I have yet to wear this one out as I am saving it for the spring as I have a perfect floral sprigged dress to wear with it.
So, given that I already have all these wonderful things, what else could I possibly need?
Well I spotted a stunning tilt hat and matching muff bag and discussed the fact that I needed one desperately!
The only problem was that I couldn’t decide what colour I wanted to order.
After a week or so of deliberations, I took the decision to leave it in the hands of Lisa and let her make it in whatever colour SHE wanted.
Whilst for some that would be a tricky thing to do, I absolutely trust Lisa and her skills and decisions. I knew that whatever colour she did it in, I would be over the moon with.
A few weeks passed and a large box arrived on my doorstep. I have to admit to being excited to find out what colour Lisa had made me.
I may have omitted to mention I also ordered three more strap style snoods in neutral colours; brown, navy and hunter green.
Opening them first, I was thrilled to find the exquisite quality that I know from Lisa. All three were beautiful and perfect colours to go with my vintage wardrobe.
I then lifted the tissue paper covered parcel to find an fantastic Black topper hat and muff bag.
Now some people may think black is a little boring.
But it is also classy, adaptive AND goes with pretty much any and everything. I was absolutely chuffed to see the matching set and couldn’t wait to wear them both.
Sadly I haven’t got an event coming up for awhile so I decided to do a mini-shoot in my living room. Adding a vintage fur, make-up and jewellery and I snapped away merrily.
All in all I think they worked out quite well!
Now I just need to put in my next order with Lisa…
Till next time,
