This blog is going to be a little out of the ordinary for me.
As you all know I love my vintage stylings and when not in my work clothing, wear a multitude of stunning plus size retro styled outfits.
I usually pair things up in a matching style; handbags, hats, gloves, snoods and jewellery. My spare room is full to the brim with all these wonderful purchases and I like to keep an eye out for things that will go with whatever I have.
Saying that, I have been known to buy a hat which I have NO matching items and build a whole outfit up around it. The same goes for a pair of shoes too.
So what is this blog going on about then?
Well, when I was looking on Shein for vintage feel/styled outfits I came across a wonderful garment that I was really taken by.
Completely not my style and more 1980’s Madonna than 1950’s Marilyn, I just kept looking at it over a period of several days.
Every time I went onto the internet, this outfit seem to keep popping up. I literally couldn’t get away from it.
It was almost like it was telling me to buy it (like I need any encouragement) and find an event suitable for it.
Eventually I couldn’t resist any longer. My finger hovered over the order button for quite a while before I took the plunge and bought it.
So what was it?
Well it wasn’t quite a dress or a jumpsuit but a combination of both. A strapless jumpsuit with a cage style skirt.
Completely modern and completely not my normal style but I loved it.
I decided to take it along to a recent photoshoot to see if it would work for me. I absolutely loved the look but sadly the fit didn’t work for me at all.
Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the design of the outfit (for most people) however having such a large bust, I have to wear my corset when clothing is strapless.
In this case the rear of the jumpsuit is cut extremely low at the torso, meaning that my corset was showing.
Badly.
I had an absolute blast posing in the outfit and even though the fit isn’t perfect, I decided to keep it as I think that with a little jacket or bolero it could still work.
Certainly for those of you that can get strapless or low backed bras to fit them, this would work exceptionally well. The look is striking, very affordable and also pretty comfortable.
Costing only £24.99 with an additional 15% discount off it came out at £18.66 which is brilliant for the pocket.
I chose to pair it with a MiMo wig (the pin-up) and my vintage stole. I then decided to change it up and put on my favourite blonde bob wig and took some more photographs like that.
Throughly pleased with the results, I was more than happy to kick off the high heels and relax with a well earned drink (non-alcoholic of course) before setting up the next outfit and look.
All in all, the jumpsuit is a great purchase as long as you don’t forget about that low back!
Till next time,,
