Like many people I peruse the internet looking for new things especially beautiful fashion.
I have seen thousands of adverts for Xpluswear on every website I seem to go on and I have to admit to being drawn in by their stunning items.
But, are they as good as they seem? Or is it a case of ‘all that glitters is not gold’?
Well, so far my experience of them didn’t start off stellar in many ways even though I haven’t tried a single item from them yet.
So, how have they performed badly?
Well I spent quite a long time perusing the site and falling in love with a lot of their items. The designs seemed stunning, the price was reasonable, the sizing range was exceptional and I found myself putting a few things in the basket.
Before I took the plunge, I decided to check the company out a little and read a lot of reviews. There were hundreds of thousands of them and although there were many negative reviews, the positives far outweighed them.
For every bad review there was a thousand great reviews.
So, I spent a bit more time deciding which items to order.
I settled on two full price dresses and there was another dress that I *really* loved which happened to be on a BOGOF offer.
That went into the basket too, along with a free garment which I chose a red wiggle dress with fur trim. All had been ordered in a 4XL which is the equivalent of a UK size 26.
Dress no 1 was a blue satin/tulle gown which I ordered at the cost of £43.22
The second was a super glamorous gown which was covered with sparkles. The sequin cape party ball gown just ticked all my boxes. A little higher price point of £72.04, but the sheer glamour and potential glitter explained that.
The dress which had initially caught my eye was a chartreuse/green wiggle dress with tulle decoration. Priced at £45.62 it was just a stunner and what I wanted most from the site.
The free option was glorious too; a red wiggle dress which would have been priced at £36.01.
There was also a 15% off discount code so I popped that into the system and happily paid for my items. It was quite late at night and I went to bed happily.
When I got up I checked my email and noticed a weird discrepancy. The invoice they had sent me showed the two dresses I wanted, the dress on the offer and THE SAME DRESS again which a cost of $0.
The buy one get one free offer seemed to have glitched and I wasn’t getting the jumpsuit/coat, but two of the same dresses!
That just simply couldn’t be right and I genuinely thought I must have made a mistake and put too many of the same dress in the basket. But there was no mention of the jumpsuit at all, which really confused me.
I duly emailed customer services and asked if it was just an invoice glitch or if I was being sent two of the same dress, which I couldn’t fathom as why would anyone want two of the same thing (unless you were ordering bridesmaids dresses maybe?)
The email was answered extremely quickly which impressed me a lot. However language barriers meant that I couldn’t seem to get an answer as to what I was being sent.
Two or three emails bounced back and forward until I had managed to phrase it in a way that I got the perfect answer; I was getting TWO of the same dress!
Whilst I loved the dress, I genuinely didn’t want two of them so asked if I could cancel the order. The lady emailing me was absolutely fantastic and cancelled my order, sent me confirmation of this and I had my money back within 48 hours.
Brilliant!
So, the moral of this story is whilst the offer wasn’t all it seemed, the customer service was exceptional. The language barriers made the communication a little tricky BUT still got the assistance I needed and the refund was super speedy.
Where do I now stand on the company?
Well I am just about to put in an order as after the cancellation, one of the full price dresses released a new shade which I fell in love with more than my original choice.
Perhaps the company did me a favour after all?
In fact, they did as I ended up changing my whole order as there were two new garments on the site; a kimono set and a vintage style dress.
The dress which had been on the BOGOF offer was what drew me to the site in the first place is completely sold out. I am genuinely sad about this as I wanted to wear it to a wedding reception I am going to in the summer in CHIGACO!!!
More to come about that little adventure soon.
Anyway, I have ordered three items which I am genuinely excited about. Of course, I will let you know how that turns out when they arrive!
Till next time,
