If you follow my Instagram, you will have seen a post a few weeks ago featuring a beautiful floral dress from T.K.Maxx
Made by Ananya, I had never heard of or bought any items from this company , I wasn’t sure what the fit or the quality would be like. It was priced very reasonably though, so thought it would be worth a go.
Full and Flowery
I have to say that I was absolutely thrilled on its arrival as it was as pretty as the picture had portrayed and the quality, outstanding.
A full length dress made of a heavy chiffon material, the base colour is a dark maroon and it is festooned with a design featuring large fuchsia and raspberry colour flowers which look like a cross between a poppy and an anemone.
Need a Different Handbag!
The bodice of the dress has a lovely satin ribbon embellishment that goes around the waist before rising up to a double flounced ruffle which can be worn either off the shoulder or pulled up to act as straps.
One of the best things about this dress, is its versatility.
Fantastic Flounces
I genuinely feel it could be worn to a casual picnic on a summers day OR to a classy evening event or wedding. In this instance I wore it for tea in the garden on a lovely Sunday afternoon.
The quality of the dress I briefly mentioned, but it does deserve going into a little more detail; the outside layer of material is very soft and easy to wear. There is also a second layer of material and then a polyester inner dress which ensures that the dress is not transparent.
Strike A Pose
This inner dress is also burgundy so gives a depth of darkness to the outer chiffon. It is also very stretchy and comfortable to wear, whilst not making the dress too heavy.
I love how the double flounce gives it a very Spanish effect, and whilst I don’t mind the fact that the bra straps are showing (as in this case, they are a complimenting colour) I would in future wear my corset underneath, especially for a more formal event.
Chiffon Chic
Putting the elasticated ruffle up onto my shoulders both hid the straps well and also gave it a more relaxed look, perfect for that summer picnic.
The dress I am wearing is a size 26 and almost feels like it was made especially for me, with my measurements of 54/49/59. There is still a little room for manoeuvre in the bust and hip area.
Maxi Marvellous
I genuinely think this could become one of my favourite dresses as it is so comfortable to wear, whilst looking both fantastic, flattering and quite expensive.
Although I wore this quite simply, with the addition of a beautiful fascinator or hat, this could be a perfect look for a wedding or Royal Ascot.
Perfect Poppy
As I have a visit to the yearly event on my ’50 things to do before I am 50′ this dress could be a good choice for this.
For those of you interested in just how I styled this up, it was with a simple, beautiful hair flower from Shazam and a red lucite bag from Lux De ville (quite rare and no longer made)
Full Skirted
To be honest, indoors the bag looked like it was a great match, but in hindsight it is just too red (in my opinion) in the natural daylight, However, as I don’t yet have a bag that will match better, it will do in a pinch.
Priced at £34.99 it certainly wouldn’t break the bank but is of a quality that far exceeds its price point.
Perfect Posies
Unfortunately I don’t think it is available on the website any longer, but you may be lucky and find it in store.
In the meantime, there are some other lovely choices on the website, including Little Mistress, Lovedrobe and Yours Clothing.
