Long time readers of mine will know I have an amazing relationship with the husbands siblings; Sister, Angela and Brother Paul and their respective spouses, Gordon and Dawn.
Paul and Dawn live in the USA but we stay in contact and it was amazing when Paul could come to the recent 80th birthday holiday in Sussex.
Wrapping Time!
Angela and Gordon do come to visit regularly and we have had many a drunken party night, murder mystery and holiday both in the UK and abroad.
Frosty
Now the children are grown, Christmas it not quite the event that it used to be. However we don’t need any excuse to get together and have a little party.
All Set Up
So yesterday, two weeks before Christmas we got together for a bit of a buffet, Christmas lights and that quintessential festive past-time, World Cup Football.
Ready to Tuck in
Sadly that didn’t end well for England but we still had a great night.
Sunday came and Mum had planned for a festive Christmas dinner to enjoy together; turkey, gammon, stuffing and all the trimmings.
The Dreaded Wrapping Starts
Firstly I needed to ‘Christmasify’ the room up a little as although there was a tree in the living room there were no other decorations anywhere.
Happy Holidays!
Thankfully Angela *loves* decorating and the whole process of getting ready for Christmas. I gave her a load of baubles and window transfers and set her off to work.
Sparkle!
The end result was beautifully festive and set the tone for the meal.
I also had a set of acrylic snowflakes that one of my staff at work had made for me; bronze and cyan blue individual designs that I hang from the curtain pole on see-thru fishing line.
Snowflakes
That was pretty much the whole of the house done, so we sat down to have a chat and a cuppa before lunch was ready.
Delicious!
Mum eventually dished up a wonderful festive feast and we all tucked in; turkey, gammon, stuffing, roast spuds, vegetables and a lovely thick gravy. I finished every morsel but made sure to leave a little space for the requisite Christmas Pudding!
A Little Bit Festive
That always causes a bit of a debate; cream, ice cream or custard?
Done!
For me it is always loads of double cream. I may have even had seconds. Now we just need to do it all again next week.
