I recently wrote about my ‘obsession’ with the Disney Pixar movie, Up.
Collectable pins, statues, funko pops and more are part of my collection and I even have a marvellous cookie jar in the shape of the house.
A Small Part of my Collection
Well I recently managed to get my hands on a new release, which pleased me no end and took me back to both MY childhood and that of my children’s, too.
I am talking about Lego.
My Disney Pins
When I was a child the sets weren’t as grandiose and varied as they are today. Packs of bricks evolved into kits that you could create boats, houses, cars and more out of.
Now you can get bouquets of flowers, Cityscapes, working machinery and more.
You Are My Greatest Adventure
When the children were younger they loved Harry Potter and one Christmas they were lucky enough to get many of the Harry Potter sets; Dumbledore’s office, Hagrid’s hut, Hogwarts and much more.
We spent most of the Christmas holiday making buildings and creating huge sections of the school made famous in J.K Rowlings books.
It’s Here!
In fact, the HP Lego is still up in the attic, mainly intact and stored all set up. These were actually brought out a couple of years ago and even though the girls were around 23 years old, they had a lot of fun setting it all back up and rebuilding damaged sections.
Now it was my turn.
Off I Go!
April 1st saw the release of the Up House, from my favourite film. Complete with balloons, helium canister and the famous mailbox, I knew I had to have it.
Arriving on the Saturday morning, I eagerly opened the packaging to find the box decorated with the most colourful, yet completely perfect representation of the iconic homestead.
Inside the House
I was even happier to see that it came with Carl, Russel and Dug the dog. I was a little disappointed that there was no sight of Kevin the bird though.
Either way I eagerly opened up the box and fished out the bags inside. These were in sections that you had to make in order which created certain rooms of the house, with their familiar decorations, before putting them all together to form the house.
Downstairs Finished
I sat there all afternoon and evening, creating the individual parts before connecting them together.
The roof was one of the finishing touches before attaching the chimney from which the bouquet of balloons would appear.
Almost Done…
Adding the multiple balloons to a central disc was a bit tricky considering that adult fingers aren’t always as deft as those of small children.
I finally managed to get the last balloon attached and all that was left to create was a little patch of land which had a helium canister, more balloons and the famous mailbox that is decorate by Ellie in the early parts of their relationship.
The Finished Article
There was even a random squirrel included, the nemesis of Dug.
I finally finished the set late on Saturday night, around 7 hours after starting it (and cooking dinner, looking after family and other tasks)

The finished set is just wonderful. I was so happy to complete it and also have another piece to add to my collection.
Currently I am still living at my Mums house, which means I don’t have a specific place to showcase my new addition, so it is sitting on one of the bedside cabinets in my childhood bedroom.
