Around six weeks ago, my blogger bestie Boo from ‘Does My Blog Make Me Look Fat?’ and I went to Disneyland Paris for a few days.
I had already written about our first day; travelling on the Eurostar and an afternoon in the main park, culminating in the amazing firework/laser/drone spectacular at the end of the night. Catch it here if you missed out.
Now it was Saturday and we were going to visit Disney Studios which I had never visited with Boo before. I was so excited about this as I hoped there would be some ‘Up’ related things to see and possibly some trading pins which I collect avidly.
I had chosen to wear a full ‘Up’ outfit comprising of a Disney Stitch Shoppe dress, ears and a Loungefly bag. I accessorised this with my Neo-walk Gatsby acrylic walking stick.
We had a leisurely start; continental breakfast, posing for some photographs outside of the hotel and then an uber into the park.
Hitting the Disney Village first we went in and out of every store checking for collectables, pins and souvenirs. As previously mentioned there had been a real shortage of pins to buy OR staff wearing lanyards ready to swap.
Sadly the Village was no better and we came away without purchasing anything.
One of the best things for me though, was when in the Lego shop Boo mentioned that there was due to be a release at the beginning of April; the ‘Up’ House!
This pleased me no end, being such an avid collector.
Before we hit the Studio, we had some sustenance via Five Guys. Burgers, Grilled Cheese and fries filled us up for the rest of the day ahead.
We then went across to the Studio to start our day. Clearing through security was simple and I got a couple of compliments about my outfit and ears.
Walking into the main studio area we were assaulted by the sound of a loud car.
Eh? What was going on?
Around the corner came Lightning McQueen!
We carried on walking and before we knew it, Captain America was hailing us from the top of the Marvel section. Now I am not a huge Marvel fan as such, but it was good fun, nonetheless.
Moving through the studio we headed to one of the live shows, Mickey and the Magician.
This show features many of the beloved Disney characters including Belle and the Beast, Rafiki and Genie.
I was absolutely in my element and the whole show was pretty spectacular. Of course, anything with Mickey Mouse is bound to be very special.
It lasts around 30 minutes, I think. I have to admit that I was so spellbound, I was completely entranced by it and lost all track of time.
Moving on from Mickey, we headed to another live show, Frozen.
Well I know that the film is a hugely successful one, especially with little girls around the World but it is not a film I have much knowledge of.
What I mean by that is most Disney/Pixar films I have seen several times each, but Frozen is a film that I have seen only once. This means that my memory issues play a small part and I only have a vague recollect of the actual plot.
I was very excited to watch the live show as it would show me some of the missing parts of my memories.
Not only was it able to do that, it also had me enthralled with all the animatronics including Sven the Reindeer!
Of course, the star of the show was Elsa.
Let It Go was a real showstopper and received a rousing applause from the packed out room. It really was fantastic.
After the show we took a walk through the studios, visiting the Pixar area with all the Toy Story characters before hitting the Parisian designed area where the popular attraction, Ratatouille is based.
This was definitely one of the rides that we wanted to give a go, so duly queued up and waited our turn. Getting to the front, I was thrilled that all the ‘cars’ we had to get into were shaped like rats.
The ride was blooming amazing. The animation, the bumps, twists and turns plus the special effects, I absolutely loved it.
In fact, I had never been on a ride quite like it.
Boo and I spent the whole ride giggling and pointing things out to each other. It was a shame that it ended so quickly, but I had loved every second of it.
We left the area and moved on back down to the Pixar section. There was a children’s ride called the Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin which looked like fun.
Boo and I don’t tend to go on the high speed, thrill rides. We are more suited to the slower, simpler rides that don’t scare the beejesus out of us.
We got onto the ride and this is where our preconceived notions went out of the window.
Slinky was a ride that went round in a circle, with a couple of little sections that had a small rise.
However it went at quite a pace and the centrifugal forces shoved us to the outside edge of our seat, squishing us together. We started giggling and just couldn’t stop.
What we thought was a silly little ride turned out to be quite a speedy set of revolutions and the ride was quite thrilling.
When it finally finished, we were breathless from laughing and headed for something a little more sedate, Ice Cream.
Whilst there was not a lot of Up products or activities at the Studios, they did have an Up House Magnum ice cream bar which I had to have, of course.
After this treat we had a little time to kill before the grand finale, and so had a final wander around the Avenger area and we were glad that we did as we managed to catch the ‘Starlord and Gamora Dance Challenge’.
This was where Quill and Gamora grab audience members up to show their best moves and see who can save the galaxy. It was great fun watching both old and young being picked for each time, before doing their dances to see who could be the best.
After the dance-off we headed down towards the Production Studio area where the special finale would take place. We wanted to get a good view which means getting there nice and early.
The finale is a huge extravaganza featuring drones, fireworks, lights and animation. Some of it is projected onto the side of buildings including the Tower of Terror.
Avengers: Power The Night is a real breath-taking show that lasts about 8 minutes. This doesn’t sound too long, however it is action packed.
The 500+ drones create pictures and characters including Black Panther, Captain America and Dr Strange. It is all set to a soaring music score that almost tells the story on its own.
Watching all the drones change colour, shape and character is just out of this world and I was completely enthralled.
Of course, when the fireworks joined in and the music reached its final crescendo, everyone was awe-struck.
It was a fantastic eight minutes and I was so glad that we had stayed around to see it all, especially as it is only due to be on until the 8th May 2023.
We headed for the exit along with everyone else and decided to grab a taxi rather than the face the bus queues and we were safe in our hotel room in around 10 minutes.
Absolutely shattered, but still in awe of all we had seen.
Tomorrow was Sunday and we had planned a full on day at the main park.
Till next time,
