Last year I became the proud owner of my first Neo-Walk walking stick.
Now those of you who are long time readers will know I caused myself an injury over 4 years ago which has left me in chronic pain and with little/no chance of improvement.
Repeated tears to my Cruciate ligament and meniscus have meant that every step is difficult and painful. Some days are easier than others, but ultimately I cannot walk for any distance without some form of mobility aid.
My Spirit Animal
On a really bad day, I use a rolling Zimmer type gadget, the rest of the time, a walking stick.
And I absolutely HATE needing to use one.
A Little Sparkle
For most part I hate how it ‘singles’ me out as being impaired, vulnerable and most of all how ugly they are.
Well, then I was introduced to Neo-Walk and my opinion on ugliness was completely altered by the beautiful sticks that I saw, created by Lyndsey Watterson and her team.
The Gatsby in Full Flow
Thus The Gatsby became a massive part of my life and I couldn’t have been happier.
For the past 10 months I have taken it everywhere; work, play, holidays and day trips. It has been to Chicago, France, Switzerland and all over the UK.
It is Here!
The Gatsby has had so many compliments and questions about it it. This has allowed me to promote the brand, whilst telling people all about the different colours and styles.
One of the biggest things I tell them about is the fact that the walking stick lights up!
Ooooh What A Sight!
Anyway, My Gatsby has been brilliant in the aspect that it is so funky, I don’t mind using it all the time.
This leads on to the recent arrival of The Green Goddess, as I am calling her.
Funky Ferrule
Actually named Emerald City, the stick is a transparent bubble filled bright green stick. I wanted it for the summer months when I have a lot of tropical and floral print dresses.
Around two weeks later a long slim box arrived on my doorstep and I opened it up eagerly. The brightest green colour stared back at me and I was hooked.
The acrylic is just divine. Bubble filled yet solid, the green just glows with life and makes me smile.
The Green Goddess
I couldn’t find a green strap that I liked as the chain link one I tried before on Gatsby didn’t really work for me. In the end I went with a clear diamante strap which adds a real bit of glamour.
The strap is thick and substantial and I have no doubt it will stay on perfectly when I am using it.
Beautiful Bubbles
I can’t wait to go out and about with the new addition to my mobility wardrobe. I am sure I will get as many comments about it as I do the Gatsby.
The only question is which colour do I choose next?
