I wrote a blog a couple of months ago about getting my hair done at a new salon across the road from where I was now working. I had actually watched as the building was renovated, wondering what was going to be inside and was thrilled when C & C Hair and Beauty by Jello finally opened.

After Visit No1

Popping in on the spur of the moment, I ended up cutting a large amount of damaged hair off and walking out with a new style, much better condition hair and a few ideas in my head of what I wanted to do going forward.

The first change I made after that was to add a ‘money piece’; a chunk of contrasting grey hair at the front of my head whilst having the rest of my hair dyed a very dark brown/black.

I have kept this look for the past several months and have absolutely loved it.

Grey and Black

What I didn’t love, was my natural hair coming through on the roots.

Now, I am not a vain woman; I actually love natural grey hair and if I went grey or white overnight, I would be more than happy about it.

Loving The Contrast

However, I am 49 next month and so far have had very little grey hair coming through.

That was until last week when I looked in the mirror to see hundreds, if not thousands of strands of grey and white littering my parting and about an inch of my roots.

Roots!?!?

This completely changed my mind on what I wanted to do with my hair and also what would be practical going forwards. I also knew it wouldn’t be long before I could make a change as I was due to take Mum to the salon last Sunday.

As many of you know, Mum has been in and out of hospital for the past 5 months. On a recent return home, I managed to get Mum into the wheelchair, transfer into the car and then drive to the Salon.

Here We Go….

Knowing how the salon pampers you completely, I had booked an appointment for Mum to have her hair washed, cut and styled. She hadn’t had this done for a very long time and I knew that both Kristina and Jello would look after her.

We arrived at 11am and were warmly welcomed in to the Salon. Jello and Kristina gave Mum and I hugs and had a short chat before Mum was taken to the chair where she would have her hair washed.

Jello Working His Magic

Jello took a stack of towels for her to sit on which gave Mum some additional height and advised Kristina what products to use on her.

As I previously mentioned, the chairs give a deep shiatsu style massage whilst Kristina performs a beautifully invigorating head massage.

Checking the Progress

Mum was sat in the chair for about 40 minutes having conditioning treatment, more massage including facial massage and was so relaxed she managed to doze off!

Jello then worked his magic and cut Mums hair beautifully. I saw her eyes light up with a sparkle that I hadn’t seen in several months, if not years. It was so lovely to see and I have to admit that I got a little emotional.

Crazy Daisy

Mum was so happy that she immediately wanted to book for six weeks so she could go and get pampered again!

Sadly, although Mum was in the hospital on Sunday and not able to go, as I said, I had also booked an appointment for myself at the same time.

Having Loves

Initially I had considered cancelling my appointment however my mental health has been very poor recently. I have been struggling with anxiety and not coping very well at all.

Deciding that a bit of self care would not go amiss, I drove over to the Salon for my appointment at 11am.

All Washed Off

On arrival I had a chat with Jello and explained my thoughts about the grey hair coming through and that given my change in family circumstances, I needed something a little easier and not so much upkeep.

Jello suggested a bleach bath to take the darker hair to a lighter shade, whilst still keeping the front a shade lighter, but more blonde than grey. I immediately agreed to that and he started his work.

Daisy Meeting Theodore…

One of the other amazing things about this salon is that they have a salon dog, Daisy.

Jello bought Kristina a Yorkshire terrier around Christmas which was initially called Pasha as they were told it was a boy. When Pasha went to have a check up at 4 months, the vet informed them that Pasha was in fact a girl and the name was changed to Daisy!

Just the Primping to Do

Having been around Daisy since she was 10 weeks old, she get so excited when I walk in the door. She dances on her hind legs, jumping up at my knees and immediately wants to be picked up and snuggled.

Well, obviously I am more than happy to do this and am usually rewarded with lots of kisses to my face, including her tongue up my nostrils which isn’t so nice.

Finished Result

I sat relaxing for quite awhile as the bleach bath did its thing. Eventually it was time to take the solution off and I was washed and massaged until I was a relaxed boneless mess!

Jello took me back to his salon hair and primped and preened, drying and styling my hair until it was a full, glossy bob with two shades of blonde.

New Look

I absolutely loved it and was so chuffed that I had decided to make this change. The grey hairs have been blended and as they come through they hopefully won’t stick out quite so much.

I will go back in a few weeks to have a toner put on and this will help with the blending too.

Either way, I intend to keep this look going forward as I really want to grow my natural hair out, leaving me salt and pepper, or even pure white.

It just won’t happen overnight.
