As regular readers know, I currently have two acrylic walking sticks from the amazing Neo Walk.

The Gatsby, a clear stick with golden glitter flecks and a translucent green stick called Emerald City are in my arsenal of mobility aids and I wanted to expand my collection a little more.

I had the opportunity to do so recently when there was a discount weekend advertised and bit the bullet by ordering TWO new sticks!

The fact that my knee is so messed up means using a mobility aid is pretty much a way of life now. When in the home, I try and get along without a stick, but after a few hours the pain does creep in and I start to struggle.

In essence, I need to strengthen my knee in order to help myself and make my mobility easier.

However, given my current situation, looking after my infirm Mum and Uncles, I barely have time to sleep let alone go swimming or to the gym. I know I need to make that time, but until I have a better routine in place, it is pretty unlikely.

Emerald City

Even with building up my knee, I know given other health factors that it will never be ‘normal’ again. The ligaments are permanently overstretched and so I will always have a modicum of pain and mobility issue.

As I have previously mentioned, I hated the fact that I needed to use a walking stick. Ugly, metal and also a big sign pointing to the fact that I have an issue.

Then I found the amazing Lyndsey and her Neo Walk sticks and that opinion simply flew out of the window.

Colourful, different, funky and a real talking point, the Neo Walk range just spoke to me. The only issue was that there were too many to chose from and couldn’t decide which to opt for.

As I mentioned, The Gatsby was the first, Emerald City the second. Now which two sticks had I plumped for?

Greener than the Grass

Well, the first one was a no brainer; Cherry Bomb.

A bubble filled stick, the vivid red just called to me for many reasons. Firstly I am an aficionado of bright red lipstick. A staple item within the vintage world, vamp red lipstick and black eyeliner are seen all over the scene.

Secondly I have a *lot* of red clothing.

Dresses, swimwear, active wear, pyjamas, jumpers, hats and even coats have a base of bright red and having a matching stick would complement a lot of my outfits whilst being a talking point, again.

To complement my bright red stick, I went with a black ferrule (Ozzy) and a black gel sleeve which has a scale pattern.

Ever since I received my first stick, I have always had a gel sleeve.

It’s The Bomb!

I find the comfort, lack of rubbing and extra padding very beneficial. I don’t know how a stick without a gel sleeve feels, but as they can only be added at the time of purchase, I didn’t want to run the risk of getting a stick that was then not as comfortable for me.

The full cost of the made to size stick, with the gel sleeve, a second ferrule plus postage came to £112.94. I am VAT exempt due to it being a long term injury so that saved paying an extra £21.oo approximately.

Cheery Cherry

Onto the second stick and this was a more unusual choice in the aspect that it is a very different kind of design.

Pink Candy Crush is a twisted candy cane in the Barbiest of pink and just so girlie I immediately wanted it.

I have so many pink items in my wardrobe and a melee of bangles, hair flowers and even shoes that I knew it would be a good addition to my Neo Walk collection.

There is one dress in my arsenal (or two if I am honest) that will look exceptional with this stick. Pin Up Girl Clothing made a dress several years ago which I have in 3 or 4 different materials.

If I remember correctly it was called the Ella dress.

I have a black Alice in Wonderland print but even better I have two pink dresses, one with large cabbage roses and the second is a Mary Blair print featuring lips and roses. I also have the same dress in lilac with pink accents so that will also complement Candy Crush very well.

To go with the pink of the cane, I opted for a red scale gel sleeve which is accented with pink. I decided that the Fizz ferrule would be the best choice to complement both the cane and the sleeve.

The cost of the stick came to £107.00 including postage.

Packaged Well

I opted to use Clearpay to pay for the sticks in four equal payments, over two months duration.  At just under £51.00 every two weeks, it makes it just that little bit more affordable.

Placing the order, all I had to do now was wait for the arrival of my beautiful sticks.

Red and Black

This took around 8 days and I had an email to advise the sticks were out for delivery. A couple of hours later the delivery van pulled up outside and I eagerly answered the door to accept them.

They were exactly as I expected; bright, very funky and completely me. All I need to do now is find the matching outfits to give them a whirl together and show you all just how great they look together.

Ideally I need to get a blue and a purple next, but I won’t be ordering any more for a little while as I am trying to save my pennies as it the Vintage event season is now in full swing and I have Twinwood to look forward to.

Though…. There is always Clearpay!
