If you have ever looked at any of my Instagram posts or blogs before, you will have seen many tropical/tiki style dresses in my wardrobe.
I have more than a handful and absolutely love the colours and styles and they make me feel happy and certainly put a smile on my face whenever I wear them.
Usually I accompany them with complimentary hair flowers and colourful shoes. Bangles and bright earrings finish off the ensemble and I have worn these for both formal and informal occasions.
Recently I have expanded my wardrobe and acquired some ‘standard’ style outfits such as playsuits, jumpsuits and dresses. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not giving up my love of vintage, I just absolutely loved these prints and took the plunge and ordered a few things from Shein.
Vintage Plus Retro
My first look is a gorgeous wide leg jumpsuit with hibiscus and palms printed all over it. Featuring a V-neck bodice, elasticated waist and fluttery sleeves, it is an ideal summer outfit.
Heavenly Hibiscus
I paired the jumpsuit with some green hoop earrings and a pair of flat sandals and just needed a hair flower to match.
Wide Legged Stance
Now whilst I have a lot of flowers, I am very short of anything hibiscus based. I think I will need to rectify that soon. I did however, have a pink and orange flower.
Flower Power
The jumpsuit was priced at £13.99 however is now sadly sold out.
Jumpsuit Joy
I ordered this is a 4XL and I would say that it is true to size, and quite loose and flowing. I absolutely loved wearing this as it was comfortable, smart AND perfect for summer.
Rear View
The second choice was a lovely little surplice neck romper suit, again with hibiscus flowers, but in a size 24. A right little bargain, at only £9.27, it was a real change to my regular style.
Need Some Sun!
Featuring loose flowing sleeves and a crossover bodice, the pattern has peach lily type flowers and foliage all over it. I added an original vintage sunhat and some green hoop earrings.
A Lovely Length
The shorts part of the romper are quite loose too and fall at the higher side of the thigh. This is not a problem when it come to sitting and relaxing however I found they do ride up a little when walking any kind of distance.
Close Up
Given that I am very busty, the crossover style is very flattering however I do feel more ‘secure’ with a small vest top of a complimentary colour underneath as when I sit forward or bend, it can flash the girls a bit!
Perfect For Picnics
Obviously if I am in the UK doing my weekly shopping it would be better to wear a top, but abroad by the pool would be a completely different matter!
Strike That Pose
The next item is a stylish, unusual style in that it is a romper with standard shorts but a long overskirt that splits in the middle.
Romper Time
Printed in black with a palm tree, pineapple and tropical flower pattern, the top section has a cute ruffle which gives it a really lovely look. Whilst the outfit is strapless, I am considering tying two straps made of ribbon to secure it a little, given my big bust.
Perfect Palms
Priced at £13.31 it is a complete steal and I have to say that having worn it for a whole day, it was both comfortable, easy to wear and extremely stylish.
From The Rear
I ordered this in a size 24 and it was very true to size.
Delicious Yet Discreet
This outfit was perfect with sandals however I think could really be dressed up too.
Wonderful Wings
My final choice so far was by far my absolute favourite.
A ruffled sundress in white and orange palm print, I ordered a size 24 which was a perfect fit. The dress is a long maxi dress and has a matching tie belt to accentuate the waistline.
Favourite Frock
After discount this was just £14.79 and I must admit it is THAT good, I would pay double the price.
Floaty and Fabulous
I accentuated the dress with some orange dangly earring and orange post toe sandals.
Great From Every Angle
The piece de resistance would be my gorgeous green ‘Emerald City’ walking stick from Neo-walk . Sadly, I didn’t get any photos with it!
Feeling Fantastic
So, what do you think to my tropical temptations? Do you have a favourite?
