Several months ago I attended a vintage weekend in Doncaster and had a whale of a time.
I did write all about it and if I say so myself, it is quite a good read. If you fancy having a look, you can see it here.
Whilst I was there, I had my hair done by the wonderful Michaela from Edelweiss Vintage hair. She created a wonderful up-do with a high curved fringe which looked spectacular.
She also had an array of hair flowers she had created and I rapidly bought three or four including a wonderful curved ‘banana’ accessory with yellow and white flowers and tropical fruit.
Whilst talking to Michaela, I discovered that she would make bespoke pieces if requested. Well, there were two or three outfits that I fancied specific hair arrangements for and so on my return from Doncaster I made contact with her to ask about getting some items made.
I had a couple of outfits in mind, including one of my favourite, the turquoise and fuchsia dress and jacket that I purchased from Pin Up Girl Clothing several years ago.
There was a second outfit that I thought Michaela could create a wonderful piece for; a white and orange skirt with citrus fruit, paired with an orange halter top. These were purchased from Pin Up Girl around the same time as the first outfit.
I love both of the outfits and asked Michaela if she could make something for me. She asked me to send a couple of photographs of the outfits I have to match to, for her reference.
She loved what she saw and told me she would start creating now!
Knowing how amazing her flowers are, I left her to have free reign and I knew I would be more than chuffed with whatever she came up with.
A week or so later, Michaela told me she had finished both pieces and would send them straight away.
Two days later a box arrived in the post and I was SO excited to open it up and see what Michaela had made for me.
I was not disappointed.
The first thing I saw was a beautiful business card which had a small sketch on it that looked just like Michaela.
There was then a couple of red love heart shaped chocolates in a voile bag and a beautiful handwritten card with such wonderful words written inside.
Underneath was a parcel wrapped in tissue paper. I couldn’t see anything through the tissue and this raised my level of excitement a little bit more.
Opening the tissue I could see the most beautiful, bright colours; turquoise and fuchsia petals.
The most gorgeous banana shaped hair clip with lilies, orchids and small flowers in both colours and berries to accentuate the shape that I had specifically asked for. It was superb and I know will match my outfit perfectly.
I have the matching jacket, shoes, bag, hair snood and even a parasol.
Completely met the brief, I would say.
Of course there was still another layer which I had to open. The orange and lemon piece to go with my PUG skirt.
What was that going to be like?
Again, I was blown away by the design; Huge yellow lilies and orange flowers (no idea of the kind) alongside replica fruit and foliage. There was also a few little white flowers dotted around to finish the complete look.
I will be pairing the flower with a beautiful orange top, my fruit skirt and some green Lulu-Hun shoes.
I have a choice of bags; one actual orange shaped bag, a straw bag and a small square bag with oranges on it. If I use the straw bag, I intend to put on a straw hat with the hair flowers as bonus.
A few years ago at Twinwood it was SO hot that there was a stall selling umbrellas which could double as parasols. I bought an orange one and it has been so beneficial in either weather situation.
Either way, I think it will be a complete hit when all put together. I even have earrings that are made up of green leaves with dangling oranges.
Yes, I really have gone the whole hog.
All I need now is a couple of sunny days to wear them both.
Till next time,
