New Year is a funny time of the year for a lot of people.
Some like to go out and party hard, whilst others are happy to sit in the warm with the Hogmanay television on for company, along with a glass of something special.
All Made Up
For me, I have never been that bothered by New Years Eve. I don’t think I have ever gone out revelling on the night, although there have been parties at home, including Murder Mystery events and big buffets.
This year was again, slightly different.
My knee was a huge factor in that. The pain is constant and standing up for even a few minutes leaves me in extreme pain. The thought of being in a huge crowd of people or a busy pub with a lack of chairs, fills me with utter dread.
Loubi Lips
Also the death of Mum and the massive changes in my life also didn’t really make me feel like celebrating very much at all.
However I still wanted to get dressed up and show two of my new dresses off. I put on my makeup and added a slash of colour with my new Christian Louboutin liquid lipstick in Rouge Louboutin, their signature colour.
My Christmas Present
The first was a gorgeous silky little number that I got from Shein. A multicoloured swirl of colour which I loved as soon as I saw it online; a long sleeved, tulip-skirted cocktail style dress.
Party Ready
The predominant colours were red and teal with pink and khaki splashes.
Making A Splash
I really loved the cross over bodice and draped waist. The fall around the midriff looked like it would be both flattering yet sexy and this appealed to men so I ordered it in a 4XL.
Size 26/4XL Style
The dress was priced at£19.99 however with the various flash-sales and discounts that Shein offer, I got the dress for the bargain price of £9.84.
Slim Silhouette
Part of me wondered just how nice this dress was going to be for that amount of money, however there was always the option to send it back if I didn’t like it or the fit wasn’t right.
Tree-riffic
Just before New Year I was shopping in one of my local towns and went to the large Primark where I saw a great pair of red suede platform heels that I thought would look amazing with the dress.
Sexy Shoes
Yes, they were miles too high and I would never be able to walk in them given my knee however as with all of my heels now, I can’t walk in any of them and use them just for photographs before putting them back in storage until I need them again.
Rear-ly Nice
These shoes were also half price so I didn’t mind the fact that they would only be used for photoshoots.
Loving This Look
Putting them on and standing in front of the 7ft Norwegian real Christmas tree, I felt the shoes and dress matched really well and I knew this would be an outfit I would wear to a New Years party or classy dinner.
However, my second outfit was something that I would wear for a special New Years occasion; a ball or masquerade.
The silk effect ballgown featured a strapless bodice and a huge skirt covered in gold glittery stars of different sizes. Some of the stars were solid glitter and others a wide outline.
Star Filled
The dress was a Christmas present and although I know it came from TK Maxx, I don’t have many more details.
Baby, I’m A Star!
What I do know is that I absolutely loved the glitzy-ness of the outfit and the idea of a red-carpet event that it could be worn at.
Trying to Look Sultry
The dress was a size 26 and I have to say it was quite tight compared to my other ballgowns in a similar size and I need to tighten up the corset a little and possibly lose a couple of pounds so that it fits a little bit better.
Starry Night
Saying that, I don’t have any events of that kind until the summer so that it completely doable.
Black and Gold
I accessorised the dress with a pair of gold strappy heels, which I unfortunately haven’t managed to get photographs of, but again were purchased from Primark for a couple of pounds in a previous sale.
Golden Goddess
The last photographs that I took on New Years Eve were what I actually wore that night.
A fuzzy Snuddie covered in aubergines with messy hair and my Winnie the Pooh pyjama bottoms.
Snuggled Up
The ideal outfit for sitting watching TV with a cup of Empress Grey tea until the clock struck 1030pm and I took myself off to bed.
