As many of you know, I was very fortunate to spend 18 days in the Far East last November.
Travelling around Bali and Singapore was absolutely amazing; the sights, food, culture and architecture was out of this world and I was fortunate to experience all of this with my bestie, Boo from “Does My Blog Make Me Look Fat”
There were a dozen of us ladies on the trip and some beautiful friendships were made.
Keeping in touch after the trip, a group of five of us formed a solid group who are nicknamed the Bali Babes.
Back in February the five of us met up and shared an air BnB in London for a long weekend; Afternoon Tea, shopping at Westfields, a trip to the Theatre to see “Unfortunate” and shared a lot of fun, laughter and tears of joy and sadness.
Of course we had such a good time, that it wasn’t too long before we were planning another trip.
Fast forward to the middle of May and we were getting ready to meet up at another air BnB, this time in Buckinghamshire.
A four bedroom, house with large kitchen, dining room, two lounge/sitting rooms and several bathrooms was only topped by the outdoor swimming pool!
As a total water baby, I love swimming and if given the opportunity I will dive into a pool and wallow for hours. All we needed now is some sunny weather.
Fast forward to the Wednesday before our trip and we having a jolly good natter in our group WhatsApp chat.
One of the Bali Babes sent a voice note saying how excited she was to be seeing us the next day.
Next Day?!?
But that was Thursday and we were all meeting up on Friday for our afternoon check-in time, weren’t we?
In fact I was supposed to be picking up one of our party from Heathrow Airport around 1pm on Friday afternoon.
I messaged back with a comment saying something along the lines of she had got her days wrong.
Or so I thought.
Immediately everyone came back with the fact that our trip was indeed starting on Thursday yet I had the days completely wrong and was due to be working on Thursday!
I hastily sent messages to my Boss, confessing my cock-up and thankfully he authorised the day off.
Heading to Heathrow, I picked up the brilliant Rachel and drove to our home for the weekend, set in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.
Boo was already at the house having checked in at the agreed time and she took us for a tour of the expansive abode.
I had been given a bedroom downstairs so I didn’t need to struggle up and down throughout the stay, however I made it to the top of the house to check out all the bedrooms and bathrooms.
The house was beautifully appointed with lots of artwork on the walls, presumably some by the occupants of the house, going by the signature on them. Everything was spotless and very well looked after.
To be honest, I wasn’t interested in the house so much as the outdoor pool which was available for our usage and I fully intended to make the most of it!
The sun was shining so what better a reason to get in the pool straight away.
Off came the clothes and on went the costume.
It was a little chilly, I have to admit.
However, I am a total mermaid and I merrily splashed around. The sun got hotter and hotter and I was in my element, floating and swimming laps. Some of the Bali Babes joined me for a dip, but Boo wasn’t so keen.
The last of our party was collected from Heathrow later in the evening and we shared a meal before chilling in one of the two sitting rooms available.
One of the topics of conversations that came up was the fact that I plan on holding an event in the summer to celebrate my 50th birthday.
Obviously the fact that 2 of the group live in Germany meant that there was no way I expected them to be able to make the event.
How wrong was I?
Before I knew it, flights were being booked and Air BnB’s were getting confirmed!
I have to admit to being a bit emotional when everyone booked their travel and plans were made to come and spend time with me on my special day.
Sleep came easily and I woke up really refreshed and wanting to hit the swimming pool.
I had asked Boo to do a mini photoshoot testing out some athletic leggings from a company that had sent them to me for review.
Posing by the pool in a variety of coloured yoga pants, bending and stretching before I put the swimming costume on and jumped into the pool.
It was a little warmer than the day before and I spent a good hour swimming up and down, completely in my element.
The rest of the weekend was spent chilling, eating good food, having a lot of laughs and giggles, before it was time to head back to the airport to drop off Rachel before heading back to my own home.
Another brilliant “Bali Babes” weekend and it will only be another 4 or 5 weeks until we get to do it all again!
