I have had people asking where my blog has gone to.
It has been over two months since I last posted (well attempted to) and I have to say this is through no fault of my own.
It is SKY BROADBAND’S fault!!!
On March 10th, my broadband went down.
Note I said… MARCH.
I still have no broadband and despite numerous phone calls, engineer visits (them repeatedly sending the ‘wrong’ kind of engineer) and complaints, I still have no connection.
To be honest, I don’t even know why the broadband stopped working. I have been told everything from atmospherics, to unpaid bills, me asking to cancel and finally they admitted it was a broken cable in the ground, which is serviced by BT Openreach.
Oh, at this point, I will mention that they told me they had been advised nearly 3 weeks ago that the cable was beyond repair, but didn’t bother to contact me or do anything about it.
I have previously been promised it would be fixed within 24- 48 hours, but the engineer is not available for 72 hours…..
Then the engineer was the ‘inside only’ kind of engineer, not the outside kind. Even though I have told them a previous engineer had advised me of that, nearly six weeks ago.
I can’t watch the services I am paying for such as Netflix, Prime and Disney+. I can’t listen to my Spotify.
But above all this, I CANNOT UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS!!!
Quite important when you have a blog, right?
I did write a blog around 3 weeks ago that was a bit short and sweet, advising I had no connection, but would hopefully be back soon.
Oh, but that never posted because I had no internet!!!
I was hotspotting from my phone, but I only have 20GB of data a month and that doesn’t even touch the sides.
You may well ask why I haven’t told SKY to stick their broadband where the sun doesn’t shine. But it isn’t as simple as that.
I have a telephone line and TV contract with them. The telephone line is connected to an emergency pendant alarm for my two uncles who can’t use a standard telephone.
I have 6 SKY boxes (4 standard and 2 miniboxes) connected to the service.
And of course, the broadband.
To cancel this all and hope that another provider could give me the same amount of TV access and the telephone alarm system is tricky.
So far I haven’t found one that can offer it all, so I am still waiting for SKY to do their thing.
To be frank, I am not too optimistic as they can’t seem to find the damaged wire with two hands, a metal detector, the right engineer and a fully detailed plan of the layout.
Until I get service, I can’t write about all the wonderful adventures that I have been having, including Disney on Ice, the theatre, a marvellous trip to Marrakech with the Bali Babes, and even more…..
Oh and did I mention Malaysia, Bali and Dubai?
Well, I guess both you and I will have to wait for all of that to unfold, when I finally get my connection sorted.
I have been promised it will happen in the next 7 days….
