Day 2 of Twinwood is always my favourite, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it is a Sunday and starts a little later, allowing me extra time to get ready.

Curls to start
Secondly it gets off to a rousing start with the Twinwood Philharmonic Orchestra who play a selection of well-loved classics before going into a very patriotic section in the similar vein as “Last night at the proms”.

The Finished Product
The Sailors Hornpipe, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia ring out over the main arena. Flags are waved and people sing along to the well-known tunes.
It always brings a tear to my eyes.

Outfit of the Day
I absolutely love how it brings the crowd together as a family, no matter age, race, sex, creed or colour. It is the “vintage way” and makes my heart sing.
Moving on from the Philharmonic, there are performances all through the day, culminating in “We Three Kings” as the headline act.

What A Sunny Day
Now, as I have seen the group twice before, and knowing how fabulous they are, I couldn’t wait to see them again.
My uncles have been coming to Twinwood with me, and this will be their 3rd time. They love the music, not so keen on shopping, and happy to sit with a picnic and a beer and watch the main arena.

Chillin’ Out
This gives me a chance to pootle off on my own to do a bit of shopping.
Deadly, really!

Matching Glasses
My outfit for the day was a relatively new one but went down a treat at the vintage weekend I attended back in April.
A red and green full skirted dress with matching bolero jacket, I accessorised it with green Lulu Hun shoes, victory rolls, and some hair flowers.

Me and The Boys
I also took along a red parasol as the forecast was hot, hot, hot.
The only thing I didn’t really like were my shoes. Green peep toe wedge sandals, they were a little bit big on me but were the only pair that matched what I was wearing.

Wouldn’t Mind One of these!
Suck it up, buttercup!
Heading for the Century Club, I stopped at the stall run by the terrific twins, Kitty and Susie Ford.

Parasol Pals
I spotted a fabulous straw hat with a deep red velvet bow and flower design and simply loved it. I happily purchased it and had a couple of selfies with the girls before moving on.
Moving from stall to stall I had a chat with many friends and acquaintances before stopping at the stall of Jacqui, of This is Jacqui’s Closet. She had the most beautiful velvet opera style cape, and I just had to try it on.

Styling It
Sadly, it was too small and wouldn’t meet in the middle. Still, it gave me the chance to have a bit of a natter with her.
I was looking for a pair of purple shoes to go with my outfit for the last day. I knew what I wanted to wear, but I didn’t want to wear the same shoes as today, which as I have said, already do not like very much.

Lady In Red
Timebomb Vintage had a pair of purple shoes, but unfortunately, they were a size 6. Another stall (sadly I didn’t spot the name) had TWO pairs of purple shoes. One in a size 4 and the other a 7.
Just no luck whatsoever.
Then I hit the “Rocket Originals” stall.
Oh, My!

The Rocket Originals Stall
I love Rocket Originals but only one one pair, mainly as they are on the higher price point, and I could never afford to spend that amount for every pair of shoes I own.
However, I hated the shoes I was wearing AND had saved up all year for Twinwood, so I popped in to see what was on offer.

Relaxing and Listening
My eyes fell upon the most beautiful pair of shoes in the perfect purple.
The Ida shoe was a stunning suede peep toe design with a gorgeous cut out front and an ankle strap that looked plain from the front but had a lovely cut out section on the sides.

Purple Passion
Featuring a 2.25” wedge heel with a 0.5” platform, it was the perfect height for me, especially with my mobility issues.
Asking for a pair of size 5’s, I cast my eyes upon the other delightful offerings and spotted another likely choice.

Old Shoes
The Sophia shoe.
As their website states, The Sophia style is based on an original vintage pair of shoes from the late 1940s/early 1950s and made from good quality leather.
It had a slightly higher wedge heel than I would normally buy but I loved the wide ankle strap and cut out design on the upper part.
I asked to try them on as well and sat down to give them both a go.

Green Goddess
They were both absolutely stunning and it was even harder to decide what to do, when they both fitted to perfection.
Although the green was a higher heel at 3.5” and a 0.5” platform, they were not uncomfortable or hard to walk in. In fact, they felt almost like wearing a pair of comfy flat shoes.

New Shoes
As my outfit for the next day was purple and green, I logically could have bought either pair, but it was so difficult to decide.
So, I did the next best thing and bought them both!

What a Beauty!
That was pretty much the end of my spending spree, and I headed back to the box we had reserved and turned into a little Tiki haven.
A cold non-alcoholic wine and a big doorstep sandwich full of beef and horseradish went down a treat whilst listening to a couple of different bands.

Would Love One!
The other highlight to Sunday at Twinwood is the Mr and Miss Vintage competition that takes place at 4pm.
Heading to The Century Club, I managed to get a spot at the front with a large group of friends, who were there to cheer on a marvellous vintage gal pal, Tina.

Starting the Competition
Watching all the brave ladies and gentlemen amble across the stage in their finest wares, really brings home all the different styles and sheer variety of vintage clothing.
After the competition ended, I made my way back to the box and settled in for the evening, awaiting the brilliant finale.

The Next Generation of Vintage?
We Three Kings are one of the best tribute acts I have ever seen: Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and Elvis.
This time we were in for a treat though, as there were, in fact, Five Kings.

Sartorial Elegance
Jerry Lee Lewis was banging out the tunes on his piano and there was also a couple of songs from Cliff Richard.
The best of them, in my humble opinion is Roy Orbison.

What A Collar!
Roy has the voice, the mannerisms and the range of the original, and I have to say it always brings a tear to my eyes, as he was my dad’s favourite singer.
The individual singers take turns before joining together for a few of their most well-known tunes.

Chocks Away!
Down in the arena, the dancefloor was on fire, as was the huge seating area with people up on their feet, jigging about and having a whale of a time.
My Uncles were in their element. They love Rock n Roll, and this was absolutely perfect for them.

What An Icon!
The evening had cooled down a bit, so they were sat at the top of the hill, sheltered from the wind in our box, wrapped in warm blankets whilst singing their heads off.
All in all, it was a very successful and brilliant day.

Keeping Warm to “We Three Kings”
Just one day left now, purple and green for Monday’s Finale.
Till next time,
