New Years Eve was a very family oriented one in my house, and one that I absolutely loved.
In fact, most of the Christmas period was too and I had quite a few days off work, which meant I could relax, watch lots of Christmas movies and eat lots of mince pies!
Garnet Goddess
Deciding not to go out and have a takeaway from the local Indian restaurant whilst playing board-games, it was a loungewear/pyjamas kind of night.
Having family over under relaxed settings, I wasn’t going to get a chance to show off the two outfits I had saved for New Years.
Jessakae Style
Both outfits I have had for quite a long time, but had not got around to wearing and it didn’t seem like it would happen that evening either.
It was then that I had the idea to have a mini-shoot before everyone arrived.
A little bit on the big side…..
After all, I already had some make-up on, and my hair was freshly dressed and dried into a curly/fuzzy halo.
For this post, I picked the first dress, a beautiful burgundy dress with gold speckles and black embellishments.
I ordered this dress in a 4XL back in October 2024 and it had been sitting in my wardrobe for over a year.
Delightful Dress
Now was its chance to shine.
Described as a glittering garnet, the dress is made up of layers of tulle which gives it lots of body and movement.
The bodice is embellished with three black vertical lace ribbons and this is repeated around the skirt which has two lace rows with small black velvet bows dotted around it.
Audrey is designed with a sweetheart neckline and two straight straps approximately two inches wide.
Strike A Pose
Now, although I ordered this in a 4xl, I probably could have fit into a 3xl.
The plan though will be to take the dress to my fabulous seamstress Dora, and get it taken in. I will also get the straps shortened a little as I am quite small in the shoulders.
Rear View
I accessorised the look with a pair of black and burgundy Ruby Shoos, and a floral corsage that I purchased from Alice Browns Cupboard at a recent Twinwood festival.
Posing and preening in front of the Christmas tree, I happily showed off the dress the best I could.
Ruby Shoos
I have to say, I really loved this dress and felt very confident in it, even with it a little big on the chest area – not often that I can say that!
As mentioned earlier, I had a second dress that I wanted to showcase.
New Year, New Dress
Changing into the second dress, with a large peach/orange corsage, I posed again showing it from all the angles.
However, I am going to show that in a separate post as it is simply too good to squeeze into one blog.
Terrific Tulle
Watch out for it soon though, featuring a black cocktail gown which is based on a real Barbie dress that was released in 1960.
