As I haved previous mentioned, I didn’t go out partying on New Years Eve, however I did have a little mini photo-shoot at home.
I posted all about the beautiful Audrey from Jessakae a couple of weeks ago.
If you missed it, you can see me all in my finery here
Now it was turn of a slinky black number, the Barbie X Unique Vintage Enchanted Evening Gown.

Barbie X Unique Vintage Enchanted Evening Gown
I had been looking at this gown for over a year before I finally put it into my basket and had it delivered from the USA.
Based on an original dress designed for the iconic Barbie doll back in 1960, it is a gorgeous satin strapless dress with a rose corsage on the waist.
The original dress was in a beautiful pale pink, however Unique Vintage gave a double option of pink, or in classic black.

The Original Barbie
In this case, I opted for black, which came with a red rose with green petals.
I chose to order a 5XL (size 26) as this is usually what I order from Unique Vintage, but I have to admit to being a bit unsure that this would fit me.

Cheers!
The amazing thing was that it was in a “at least 50% sale”which meant instead of costing £140, it was just £62.
Well, at that price I thought it was worth a bit of a go.

The Rear Drape
Now I just needed somewhere to wear it to!
As I previously mentioned, I thought it would be fun to have a few photographs taken in front of the Christmas tree on the last day of the year.

Quite a Drape
Made from quite heavy satin, the dress is designed as a simple tube, or so you would think.
The front of the dress features a slight drape effect which continues across the side of the dress to form a large “curtain” of material that starts on the hip and reaches the floor.

Hair Up
On the same hip is a pinned floral corsage; a rose made of the same pink material n the pink version and a bright red rose on the black dress.
Both of them have emerald green leaves.

Raise A Toast
Trying the dress on, it was an almost perfect fit!
Gliding over my chest, it had a lovely drape across my quite large tummy, which made me feel really comfortable and confident in it.

Barbie Beauty
Sadly, the pin back on the corsage had become unglued and I didn’t want to start hunting for superglue, so I found a lovely peachy orange flower that I had purchased from the amazing Shazam Pin Up Hair Flowers.
So, why did I pair peach with a black dress?

Shazam Flowers
Well, my favourite musician, Prince had a penchant for the colour combination, going so far to use the line “Color U Peach and Black” in his hit single “U Got The Look”
And if it was good enough for Prince, it was good enough for me!

Feeling Confident
I really liked the combination and going forward, I may use those flowers instead of the original rose. However, I do have over 100 hair flowers, many with pin backs so could change the combination up to give different looks.
Sounds like a bit of a plan.

Peach and Black
If you fancy wearing a gorgeous dress like this, hurry over to Unique Vintage where not only is it in the sale at just £55, there is a code for a further 40% off!
That makes this dress just £33.00.

Looking Sultry?
What an absolute bargain.
If you must have it in the pink version, then you will need to shell out a little more for it, although there is 40% off, however this makes the dress £75.00.

Weird Pose?
Still a sweet little deal if you ask me.
There is only one problem that I can see with this dress, personally.

Strike That Pose
I need somewhere wonderful to go, so I can show it off.
Till next time,
SPSG xxx
