Around five or six years ago, I was so very lucky to win a Dyson Coanda hair styler in a competition help by the fabulous Georgina Grogan on her blog “She Might Be Loved”

The set came with the wand, a hair dryer attachment, 2 brush attachments and 2 air wrap curling attachments. This was all presented in a wonderful tan leather box.

Now when I was using the set originally, I styled my hair in a straight bob, so the small hairdryer attachment worked perfectly well.

Straight and Sleek

However, in recent times, I had gone back to having my hair naturally curly.

This meant I needed a diffuser to get the best out of my curls.

How Big?

At this point, Dyson didn’t seem to sell a diffuser so I had a bit of a trawl on the internet and came up with a generic diffuser which seemed to do the trick.

As my hair has grown, the diffuser wasn’t really giving me the effects that I wanted so I started looking around for another option.

Overkill?

Just before Christmas I stumbled across a hair styler from Shark.

Advertised as suitable for curly/coily hair, it included a diffuser and a straightener attachment, amongst other things.

The Kit

It was December 22nd when I ordered the kit and eagerly awaited its arrival.

I was given a delivery date of around the 29th December which was a week away. I was pretty happy with that and didn’t expect to get it earlier.

You can imagine my surprise when the NEXT day a huge parcel arrived on my doorstep.

It was large enough to hold a vacuum cleaner, and was marked up as Shark.

Smart and Versatile

Had I ordered wrongly?

No, not at all.

Not Straightened

To be honest, I think they had simply ran out of smaller boxes, but for a few minutes I was a little bit concerned.

I opened the box eagerly and unpacked the Shark Glam HD6052 and a separate tool I had purchased, the Frizzfighter finishing tool.

Some Straightened Sections

To be honest, I was a little bit too excited and I couldn’t wait to try the kit out, especially the straighteners.

My hair was very curly and completely dry, having washed it that morning, but I genuinely couldn’t be bothered to re-wash it.

One Side Done

On went the straightener attachment and I attacked my hair with it.

I have to say, given that it was extra curly, I didn’t expect too much from the process if I am totally honest.

So, I was especially pleased when it came out pretty straight after just a single pass over each section.

It also made me realise that letting my natural hair colour and all the grey I have been cultivating come through, looks absolutely shocking when straightened!

The Finished Effect

Since then I have been using the diffuser on a low heat, medium speed and my curls have never looked better.

The diffuser has two settings for the actual “fingers” meaning you can have greater depth on the bowl of the diffuser, letting the curls bunch up better, with the ends of the “fingers” really hitting the scalp.

This seems to have really made a difference to my curl pattern and also the amount of time that it takes to dry my hair.

At this moment, I have yet to try the frizzfighter tool, or the curling wands as clearly I can have my own curls if desired.

The New Curls

I do intend to use the targeted hairdryer nozzle to dry my hair as straight as possible before using the actual straighteners.

At the very least, it might have the effect of making me do something with my hair colour!

All in all, I am really pleased with the Shark and how it is performing for me, I just need to try them all out now.
